What Are We Learning?

Language Arts / Reading:

We are working on remembering the different types of punctuation we can use when writing.  We are also practicing how our voice changes when we read sentences with different punctuation. In Reader's Workshop we are learning about building good reading habits and what that looks like when you read.

Next Week's Spelling Rule: Short /u/ . Don't forget to study your spelling words each week.

Social Studies:

We will continue to talk about communities and the roles that we can play in our community.  Our Friday mind missions help us design, create, and problem solve.  Our "bunny community" is really coming together.  We have made houses, advertisements for the community, and created community helpers for their town so the bunnies can be safe, healthy, and happy!

Math:

This week in math we will continue to compose and decompose numbers. We will also be using symbols to show how we can compare numbers.

Math Take Home Activity -
Have your child show you how to write <,>, and = to compare two numbers. Ask him or her to use words to explain each comparison.

Science:

This week in science, we will discuss how shapes of objects can be changed.  We will continue to classify objects by their properties such as larger and smaller, heavier and lighter, shape, color, and texture.
