What Are We Learning?

Language Arts / Reading:

We are in full swing with Reading and Writing Workshop. In Reader's Workshop we are working on building good reading habits and working on our stamina during independent reading. In Writer's workshop we are continuing to edit our work for capital letters and punctuation.

Next Week's Spelling Rule: Short /o/

Social Studies:

We will discuss rules and laws in our community and school.  We will also discuss how we can be a good citizen in the community that we live in.

Math:

This week in math we will continue to compose and decompose numbers. We will also be recognizing in an instant the quantity of structured arrangements.

Math Take Home Activity - Show your child one group of 10 pennies and one group of 8 pennies.  Ask your child to tell how many tens and ones there are, and say the number.  Repeat the other numbers from 11 to 19.
