What Are We Learning?
Language Arts / Reading:
Next week's spelling rule: silent e and the long /u/ sound.
In reader's workshop we will begin a unit study with non-fiction literature. Non-fiction text can be more challenging to read with new vocabulary throughout the books. We will concentrate on learning the new vocabulary and how to use other words in the sentence to figure out the challenging words. We will also concentrate on fluency and comprehension when reading non-fiction.
During writer's workshop we will continue to use our new check sheet to proofread our writing. Our new check sheet includes the following:
*topic sentence
*capital letters
*punctuation
*transition words (first, next, finally)
*closing sentence
