**We can't wait to celebrate the season with our winter holiday party on December 20th (2:00 - 3:00). Please look for an e-mail to come home soon from our amazing room moms! We know they will need lots of help on this day!!
**Town Center First graders are collecting new, unwrapped toys for children in need. We will be donating the toys to the Coppell Lions Club. We will be collecting toys form now until December 19th. Please place new, unwrapped toys under the Christmas tree by the front office. When you bring in your toy, please sign your name on an ornament and hang it on the tree. Thank you so much for helping us!
**Thank you for all of your help with our projects on customs and traditions. We have LOVED getting to know our friends better and learning about different cultures!! This has been one of our favorite units to explore!!

What Are We Learning?
Language Arts / Reading:
Spelling: No spelling test next week. We will review past spelling rules.
Writing: We will begin to purposely add adjectives to our writing pieces to make them more expressive.
Reading: We will continue our fiction unit on fairy tales, fables, and folk tales.

Social Studies:
We will be continuing our unit on Customs and Traditions. We've had so much fun learning from each other. Mind Missions will be reading the fable "Get Your Goat". We will design something that can pull the "goat" from the well bottom!! I love their creativity with these projects!
Math:
Learners will practice using a related fact to find an unknown number. For example: Which addition fact helps you solve 17 - 8? The answer would be
9 + 8 = 17
Math Take Home Activity:
9 + 8 = 17
Math Take Home Activity:
Give your child 5 small objects, such as paper clips. Then ask your child how many more objects he or she would need to have 12, then 15, then 8 etc...
Science:
We are so excited to start our STEM project involving forces and energy. The first graders will be creating toys!! We are also fortunate to collaborate with the earners from CHS. They are coming to help get us started with the Engineering Design Process and show off the toys they created in their STEM classes.
